Dr. Michael McQuillan, O.D.

On March 17th, most people are scrambling to find a green shirt to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. However, that day is special to Dr. Michael McQuillan for another reason – it’s the day he officially opened the doors to his eye clinic, Michael McQuillan O.D. For over 40 years now, he’s relished the opportunity to bring clear, comfortable vision to his patients!

Dr. Michael grew up in Pomona and Claremont, California, as the second of six children. He developed a strong love for science at a very young age, and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California-Riverside. He then attended Southern California College of Optometry Summa Cum Laude, followed by a residency in Vision Training in New York City.

There are several aspects of optometry that Dr. Michael enjoys, like fitting contact lenses on nearsighted children. One of his most rewarding memories involved working with a young boy who had difficulty reading due to issues with his eye focus. A similar episode occurred when Dr. Michael traveled to Romania, where he was able to successfully provide eye and vision care to orphans. In addition to this, Dr. Michael has also been able to detect diabetes, strokes, tumors and several other conditions while conducting routine eye exams.

When he’s not helping correct people’s vision, Dr. Michael enjoys several hobbies. He’s a big fan of cycling, an activity he’s been doing since childhood. He also loves photography, and even has several of his photographs mounted on his office walls.
